Alcohol Believed a Factor in Idaho Motorcycle Accident Death

The driver of a motorcycle involved in an accident more than a week ago in Post Falls has now succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

On July 29th, the Idaho State Police reported that a multi-vehicle accident had occurred in Post Falls at the intersection of Pleasant View Road and Seltice Way. At the time the driver of the motorcycle was transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance and the occupants of the other vehicle were cleared at the scene and were wearing proper seatbelts and restraints. Alcohol was believed to have been a factor in the accident and the accident is under investigation. The ISP have now updated the story with the following information:

Update: The motorcycle rider has succumbed to his injuries on 8/4/23 at the hospital. The next of kin has been notified.

The original story contained the following information about the accident:

The rider on a Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling east on Seltice Way. The rider failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Seltice Way and Pleasant View Road. A Honda Odyssey van was traveling south on Pleasant View Road and collided with the motorcycle.
The motorcycle was operated by a 39-year-old male from Basin, Wyoming. The rider was not wearing a helmet and was transported to an area hospital via ground ambulance. The van was occupied by a 28-year-old male driver, and 3 passengers (17-year-old male, 5-year-old male, 18-year-old female), all from Pasco, Washington. All occupants were wearing seatbelts (or proper child safety restraint) and were evaluated on scene by medical personnel.
The roadway was blocked for approximately 4 hours. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this collision.

Just one day before the previous accident, another motorcycle-related accident was reported in Caldwell where the driver of the motorcycle was also killed. A motorcycle rider was also killed recently in Jerome in an accident with a semi-truck.
