A tragic car accident heading into the first weekend of June claimed the life of a recently graduated teen driver. A fundraiser has been set up to help the family of the young man.

The GoFundMe details the struggles the family is facing and shares a little bit of info about the young driver who had plans to become an auto technician and was about to start working at Les Schwab.

Andres Salas passed away at a hospital nearly a week after the SUV he was driving was involved in an accident with a semi-truck. The accident happened on June 3rd, only seven days after he graduated from high school. Idaho State Police updated their incident report on June 10th with the sad news that he had passed away.

The family of Andres are ‘heartbroken’ and write about his bright and uplifting personality in the fundraiser description. They family would appreciate any donations, big or small, to help them with expenses.

In the initial report from the Idaho State Police for the accident, it states:

A 2019 Freightliner driven by a 51-year-old male, and a 2013 Ford Explorer driven by an 18-year-old male, both from Shoshone, were traveling eastbound on US26.

The driver of the Explorer struck the back of the Freightliner while it was attempting to make a left hand turn.

Andres was listed as in critical condition and was taken to a local hospital by air ambulance where he passed away.
