WATCH: Bald Eagle Steals Fisherman’s Catch
There aren’t many animals as majestic as a bald eagle that you can see in the wild in Idaho.
Many animals would be cool to see, like a bear, moose, or a wolverine - but if you want majestic you have to find a bald eagle.
Bald Eagle Steals Fisherman's Catch: Would This Happen in Idaho
But, it turns out that bald eagles - while majestic - might be jerks. A video posted online shows a glorious bald eagle in slow motion, swooping down to a body of water to catch a fish. That fish though, was in the process of being claimed by a fisherman.
While it would suck to be that fisherman, you can’t be mad. You can either catch a good-sized fish or you can catch an epic slo-mo video of America’s greatest bird stealing that fish. Bald Eagle? More like Bold Eagle!
The fact that they caught the incident on camera is a miracle. The barefoot fisher-bro dropping his hand and shoulders at the end is almost poetic. I just saw the video today, but apparently, it is at least 2 years old since I found it on Reddit too.
I don’t know where the fish stealing happened, but I can easily see this happening in Idaho. We were kayaking at Centennial Park last summer and saw a bald eagle land on a rock on the Jerome side of the river. Even though it was a ways away it was still memorable to all of us who saw it.
We weren’t fishing at the time, but there are plenty of videos showing bald eagles stealing fish, that it wouldn’t have been a surprise.
Caution: bad language on this one.
