Capitol Christmas Tree Making 10 Stops in Idaho Before Heading to Washington DC
The US Capitol Christmas Tree has been growing for decades in preparation for this holiday season. The tree chosen for 2026 has been growing in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest and will soon take a journey across the United States before being placed on the West Lawn of the the US Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.
Before it begins the trip to the White House, the tree will make a number of stops in Idaho and 8 other states. Twin Falls will be one of the lucky cities getting a visit on the tree tour in November.

The tree is 76 feet tall and will be the 3rd Capitol Christmas Tree to come from Idaho. A tree came from the Boise National Forest in 2003 and from the Payette National Forest in 2016. All three trees have been Engelmann Spruce.
As the tree travels through Idaho, it will make 10 stops where the community can come see the tree, take pictures, sign the banner, get information, and purchase memorabilia.

When Will the Capitol Christmas Tree Be in Twin Falls
The event stop announcement for Twin Falls was just announced and the tree will be at the Twin Falls City Park on November 5th from 3-5 PM. Though, if you look at the photo for the event it says the event will take place between 4 and 6 PM, so there is a discrepancy. We'll update here if that changes.
Exact times have not been determined for every stop yet, as festivities are still being planned with local communities and partners. Note from the list above that the tree does make multiple stops on some days.
The tree will also make stops in Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
