I am the third to last child out of nine kids, so by the time I chose a career (if you call radio a career...) my older brothers and sisters had already made my parents proud, so the pressure was off me to be the one to succeed! When we were kids we all wanted to be something awesome like a Cop, a Princess, Firefighter, Ballerina, Superhero, or a Cowboy - but what did you end up becoming? And did your choice make mom and dad happy?

Apparently, new parents haven't gotten the memo that between HMOs, malpractice suits, and Obamacare, being a doctor isn't the path to giant piles of money it used to be.

--A new survey asked parents what careers they most want for their children.  And "doctor" was the number one answer . . . 94% said they'd encourage their kids to try to become doctors and would be happy with that career choice.

The top five jobs parents want for their kids are:  doctor, pharmacist, nurse, accountant, and researcher.

On the other end, CAR SALESMAN was ranked the job parents least want their kids to have.  Only 38% said they'd be happy if their child ended up selling cars.

The bottom five jobs are:  Car salesman, union leader, priest or minister, state or national politician, and local politician.
