Where Are the Flock Surveillance Cameras in Each Idaho City

Flock cameras have been quite the tumultuous topic lately in Idaho. There are large numbers of people in favor of them, large numbers against them, and others who don’t know or care.

As is often the case, the ones who hate them are the loudest of the groups.

Flock Cameras Have Landed in Idaho and Here’s Where They Are

Whichever side of the debate you stand on, that’s up to you. This story isn’t to persuade anyone that Flock cameras (also known as ALPR Surveillance Cameras) are good or bad, just to inform everyone that there is an easy way to know where they are and even an app to help you avoid them if that’s what you want to do with your life.

If you’ve been hearing about the surveillance cameras in Idaho but don’t know what they are, next time you are out driving around town, look for one of these.

Now that you know what to look for, you should know that the camera also just looked at you. Or, at least it looked at your car. If you don’t like the thought of that, being under constant surveillance, there are mountains of stories with information on the pros and cons of the cameras and debates about what they are being used for. There are also more than 123,000 of these cameras collecting data across the United States.

The good news is that these cameras aren’t secret. If you visit the Deflock website, you can see a map of every city and see where every camera is. This interactive map lets you move around the US looking for cameras or you can keep scrolling to see a breakdown for each Idaho city.

The interactive map shows where the cameras are and which direction they are facing to capture information.

How Can You Avoid Flock Cameras in Idaho

If you want to completely avoid the Flock cameras and probably add extensive time to your commute, there is an app and website called Flock Hopper that allegedly gives routes around the spying eye of Big Brother. I asked for directions from Twin Falls to Salt Lake City and it only added 6 miles of side streets and 25 minutes to the drive.
