Over the Labor Day holiday weekend, Idaho State Police responded to a head-on car vs. semi truck collision near the east Idaho border. ISP released the following information in messages about 25 minutes apart:

The driver of a 2022 Tesla, a 46-year-old female of Mantua, Utah, was eastbound on State Highway 33 at milepost 125, west of Driggs, when the vehicle crossed the center line. A 2007 Kenworth commercial vehicle, driven by a 44-year-old male of Rexburg, Idaho, was westbound on State Highway 33 when it was struck by the Tesla. The driver of the Tesla and the following passengers succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the crash:

A 22-year-old female of Kaysville, Utah, a 24-year-old male of Kaysville, Utah, and a juvenile.

The occupants of the Tesla and commercial vehicle were wearing seatbelts.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

Original Release From Idaho State Police Regarding the Accident

Idaho State Police are investigating a head on two-vehicle fatality collision that claimed four lives which occurred at 9:49 pm on September 1, 2023, in Teton County, Idaho.

The Idaho State Police are working with the Teton County Coroner on notification to next of kin.

The eastbound and westbound lanes of State Highway 33 were blocked for 8 hours while crews worked to clear the scene.

This incident remains under investigation and more details will be released by the Idaho State Police when they are available.
