On Friday, September 11th, the Idaho State Police sent out news releases for two fatal accidents that had happened on Idaho highways that day.

One was a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a Porsche near the Wyoming border. The other was a single-vehicle Toyota SUV rollover accident closer to the Oregon border.

Fatal Single Vehicle Rollover Crash in Gem County, Idaho

On Friday evening, a few minutes before 6:30 PM, an accident on Sweet-Ola Highway happened. The driver was heading north on the road in Gem County when they lost control and rolled the vehicle.

A blue 1996 Toyota SUV, driven by a 63-year-old female from Ontario, Oregon, was traveling northbound on Sweet-Ola Highway near milepost 10 when the driver failed to maintain her lane of travel. The driver drove off the road onto the right shoulder and overcorrected. The driver then came back onto the roadway, driving across both the northbound and southbound lanes of travel and off the roadway on the west side of the highway where the vehicle overturned.

The woman was not wearing a seatbelt and passed away at the scene of the accident. Idaho State Police will investigate the crash.

On the morning of September 11th, 2026, the Idaho State Police also reported a fatal accident near the Wyoming border. A driver from Texas in a Porsche Carrera lost control of the car, crossed the center line, and ran head-on into a Dodge Ram.

Both occupants of the Dodge were taken to the hospital, and the driver of the Porsche passed away.
