Three Killed in Idaho Highway Accidents on Father’s Day Sunday

As the 100 Deadliest Days of Summer continued, we celebrated Father’s Day and the official start to summer, and the Idaho State Police reported 4 fatal accidents over the weekend.

Three of the fatal crashes happened on Father’s Day Sunday, involving eight vehicles. The first fatal crash of the weekend happened on Saturday afternoon, killing a female driver and injuring a male driver and three juveniles.

Idaho State Police Investigating 4 Fatal Highway Accidents That Happened Over the Weekend

Details from the three Sunday accidents are shared below in the order they happened.

Idaho State Police responded to an early morning crash near Mountain Home on Sunday, around 4 AM, eastbound on I84 between mile markers 84 and 85.

• A 21-year-old female from Boise, Idaho, was heading East on Interstate 84 in a Subaru Crosstrek.
• The driver went off the road on the median, overcorrected, and overturned, coming to rest on the right shoulder.

The young female driver passed away at the scene of the crash

About 7 hours later, at 11:21 AM, ISP responded to a crash in Northern Idaho involving 4 vehicles on US95 near mile marker 483.

• A 40-year-old male, from Ponderay, Idaho, was driving a red Honda Fit sedan on US-95 northbound when he pulled over to allow a grey Toyota Tacoma that was also traveling northbound, driven by a 26-year-old male from Sandpoint, Idaho, to pass.
• As the Toyota passed the Honda, the two vehicles made contact.
• The Toyota went left of center and crossed into oncoming traffic before colliding with a white GMC Sierra, driven by a 66-year-old female, which was traveling southbound on US-95.
• After the GMC was struck, a blue Subaru Forester, which was also traveling southbound on US-95, which was driven by a 52-year-old female, struck the GMC from behind.

The driver of the GMC was not wearing a seatbelt and passed away at the crash site.

The third fatal Sunday accident happened just before 11 PM in Boise on I84, westbound at mile marker 3. The accident sent 5 people to a local hospital where a 49-year-old female passenger from Arizona passed away. The ISP report on the accident states:

• A white 2018 Acura TLX, driven by a 29-year-old male from Boise, Idaho was traveling westbound on I184.
• A beige 2015 Toyota Highlander, driven by a 31-year-old male with four adult passengers from Chandler, Arizona was also traveling westbound.
• The Acura rear-ended the Toyota. The Toyota left the roadway, colliding with concrete landscaping structures.
• The Toyota overturned and landed back in the lanes of travel.

The three deadly accidents from Sunday and the fatal crash from Saturday are being investigated by the Idaho State Police.
