UPDATE: Some Idaho Schools Cancel Classes After Bomb Threats
Wednesday was a tense day in Idaho as bomb threats were sent to many schools across the state. Thankfully, the threats all turned out to be hoaxes. But with classes canceled and email messages sent to children and parents, there is still some unease in the community.
Hoax Bomb Threats at Many Southern Idaho Schools
When the bomb threats came in by email Wednesday morning, at least 13 schools across Idaho in Vallivue, Emmett, Nampa, and others evacuated their buildings and canceled classes. Castleford received a threat but deemed it to be a hoax after an officer checked the building. Schools in Twin Falls, Kimberly, and other nearby school districts did not cancel classes. The bomb threats were addressed in emails to parents stating that the Twin Falls School District and Kimberly School District were not among the schools that received threats and the threats to other schools were deemed to be fake. The school district is in contact with local police to maintain the safety and well-being of students and faculty members.
According to Idaho law in Title 18 Chapter 33 regarding threats to schools, the act is a misdemeanor offense. If a weapon is found, whether that be a bomb, firearm, or other deadly weapon, the act becomes a felony.

(b) Any person, including a student, who knowingly has in his possession a firearm or other deadly or dangerous weapon, or who makes, alters or repairs any firearm or other deadly or dangerous weapon, in the furtherance of carrying out a threat made by word, electronic means or act to do violence to any person on school grounds or to disrupt the normal operations of an educational institution by making a threat of violence is guilty of a felony.
