
Semi Truck Catches Fire After Rear-Ending Another Semi on Southern Idaho Highway
The Idaho State Police went nearly a full week without reporting any accidents on Idaho highways. But Monday morning, a crash between two semi-trucks broke that safety streak.
The accident happened on what is becoming the most dangerous highway in Idaho, north of Idaho Falls.
Idaho’s Most Dangerous Highway: Two Semi Trucks Involved in Fiery Accident
Idaho State Police reported that the accident happened on Interstate 15 near mile marker 125 at 5:49 AM on Monday. The crash blocked all traffic for around 4 hours before one lane was reopened. Other first responders assisted with traffic and cleanup, and the accident is being investigated by the ISP.
A 55-year-old male from Alberta, Canada, was traveling southbound in a 2024 white Volvo semi-truck
A 25-year-old male from Monteview, Idaho, was also traveling southbound in a white Kenworth semi-truck.
The Volvo rear-ended the Kenworth at milepost 125, where both vehicles came to rest.
After the crash, the cab of the Volvo caught fire. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and were not injured in the crash.

ISP also reported that a high-speed chase ended when spike strips successfully stopped a vehicle on I-84 in Payette County. The chase began in Elmore County at mile marker 80, the fleeing vehicle reached speeds over 100 miles-per-hour, and ended 71 miles away in Payette County at mile marker 9.
The driver was a 29-year-old man from Salem, Oregon. He had an outstanding felony warrant and was charged with felony eluding, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
