
1 Dead and 1 Injured in Southern Idaho Highway Crash Wednesday Morning
Idaho State Police have responded to several fatal highway accidents over the last week and the latest happened early Wednesday morning near Twin Falls.
The rollover crash happened on Interstate 84 at mile marker 175, which is about 2 miles east of the I84 interchange with Highway 93.
Fatal Crash on Idaho Highway Wednesday Morning
The accident involved two vehicles headed westbound on the highway at around 9:30 in the morning. The ISP report states:
A 50-year-old male of Twin Falls, ID, was driving westbound on I84 in a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta.
A 68-year-old male of Burley, ID, was also driving westbound on I84 in a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado pickup. A 72-year-old female of Burley, ID, was a passenger in the pickup.
The Volkswagen Jetta struck the Chevrolet pickup which went off the road, rolled, and came to rest on the right shoulder of the roadway.
The driver of the Chevy was killed in the accident and the driver of the Volkswagen was taken by air ambulance to a local hospital. The Jetta driver was not wearing a seat belt and the occupants of the truck were.
News station KMVT reported on the accident earlier today when lanes were still closed. Cleanup and assistance to those involved took about 3 hours.
The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Idaho State Police.
A separate accident on I84 is currently still showing on Idaho 511 that westbound lanes are blocked at mile marker 184, but no police report is available yet. Check Idaho 511 for updates on the crash and lanes closures.
