Idaho State Police had a difficult beginning to December with 3 serious crashes.

On Friday, December 1st, Idaho State Police were called out to a fatality crash on I84 in Elmore County at 7:26 PM.

A 2020 GMC Sierra, driven by a 36-year-old male from Mountain Home, was traveling westbound when it lost control and crossed over the median. The GMC Sierra collided with a 2018 Kia Forte, driven by a 30-year-old male from Rupert. Both vehicles came to rest on the right eastbound shoulder after the collision.

The un-seat belted driver of the Kia succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The passenger in the Kia and the driver of the GMC were transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital. The road opened 4 hours later after emergency personnel cleared the scene.

On Saturday, December 2nd, Idaho State Police reported a crash of 3 semi-trucks just before 5 AM. The incident occurred east of Burley on Westbound I84.

A 22-year-old male from Kent, Washington was driving westbound on I84 in a 2015 Volvo semi-truck when it jackknifed and made contact with the guard rail. A 32-year-old male from Vero Beach, Florida was driving in a 2023 Freightliner semi-truck when it missed the semi-truck and struck the guard rail. A 54-year-old male from Grantsville, Utah was driving in a 2020 Freightliner semi-truck struck the Volvo and guard rail.

All drivers were wearing safety belts. Westbound I84 was closed for 6 hours while ISP, Idaho Transportation Department, and Declo Fire Department cleared the wreckage.

On Sunday, December 3rd, there was a fatality crash in Bear Lake County. At about 7:45 PM, Idaho State Police responded to an accident on US30 at milepost 417.

A 2013 Chevrolet Impala, driven by a 24-year-old female, with a juvenile passenger, both from Montpelier, where traveling westbound. A 2014 Toyota pickup, driven by a 44-year-old-male, with a 42-year-old-female and two juveniles all from Montpelier, where traveling eastbound. The Chevrolet crossed the center line into the eastbound lanes and impacted the Toyota.

The fatality was the driver of the Chevrolet. All other persons involved were transported to a local hospital and were wearing safety restraints. Both lanes of US30 were closed for approximately 4 hours to clear the scene.

All incidents remain under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
