2023 is right around the corner. It is crazy that we will be celebrating the new year before you know it. For the first time ever, the Idaho Potato Drop will be featured on a nationwide broadcast!

Idaho Potato Drop In Boise

The Idaho Potato Drop is a yearly tradition. A massive potato slowly lowers at the capitol as everyone counts down to midnight. The giant potato is the perfect symbol for Idaho! I know that watching it is one of my yearly traditions now.

Idaho Potato Drop Featured On CNN

The Idaho Potato Drop has been available to watch on local channels each year. You can watch it on KTVB channel 7 out of Boise. This year, you can watch it on CNN. The Times Square broadcast is going to feature Mountain Standard Time for the first time ever and the Idaho Potato Drop gets to be part of the three-hour-long broadcast. The CNN broadcast is called "New Year's Eve live with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen".

Other New Year's Eve "Drops" You Can Watch

In Twin Falls, you can watch the annual ball drop at the silos in Downtown Twin Falls. There will also be the Beet Drop in Rupert where you can watch a giant sugar beet count down to the new year. The event in Rupert is an all-night one with live music, beer gardens, and more. And you can always make the drive to Boise to see the Potato Drop live. I have never done it myself but I might have to give it a shot one year soon.
