The Magic Valley is home to some beautiful parks and hidden gems. If you know where to look and go, you can find some incredible places that feel like you aren't in Twin Falls, despite being in town or just outside of it. There are some beautiful parks with flowing water, plenty of shade, and perfect for an afternoon picnic. One of the best parks in the area recently closed, but will be open again this week, with a catch.

One of the best gems in the area is Centennial Park, which sits right on the Snake River and gives a beautiful view of the Perrine Bridge and the canyon walls. The park closed on September 2nd to begin redoing the parking lot and upgrading the area. For many, this was disheartening as the park is a favorite place for many. While the wait will be worth it, you won't have to wait long to enjoy the park one final time before the weather turns cold. Centennial Park will be open once again on September 11 and will remain open through September 14, before closing again until mid to late October. With the 9/11 Memorial Event taking place this week and the flag hanging from the bridge, the park will be open to offer the best views and to remember and honor those who lost their lives on that tragic day.

September 11, 2001, is a day that no American will ever forget if they were alive when it happened. We all remember that day well, and where we were when it happened. It has been 24 years since that day, and for many, it still feels like it happened only yesterday or last week. Nearly 3,000 people died that day, and many died heroes for their sacrifices and unselfishness to put others first. Twin Falls does an amazing job of remembering these events each year and proudly displays a massive flag from the Perrine Bridge, as well as holds events to honor this day. This year is no different. On Tuesday, September 9, the flag will hang from the bridge and will remain there until September 20. There will be events such as a flag walk on Wednesday, September 10, at 5 PM, a 9/11 memorial and patriotic celebration on Thursday, September 11, at 5:30 PM, and a veteran flag cruise in Centennial Park on Friday, September 12. These are just some of the events that will be taking place.

It is nice to have Centennial Park open once more, if only for a couple of days. Take advantage of it being open while honoring and remembering 9/11 this weekend. The park will close once again on Monday, September 15, and won't reopen until sometime in October.
