While eating out over the weekend in Twin Falls, something hanging on a wall at the bustling restaurant confused me for a moment.

I walked past the painted map Saturday near the exit of the Magic Valley eatery that appeared to incorrectly identified a world-famous, 48-foot tall, southern Idaho roadside landmark as existing nearly 300 miles northeast from its actual location.

I'm not looking to embarrass the artist, but instead was just wondering if anyone else has seen this in town. To my knowledge, there's only one Balanced Rock, and it sits up on a small hill just south of Buhl.

I've taken the hike to the rock before, and I wasn't west of Challis when I did it; I'm quite sure of that.

Twin Falls ID Restaurant Sign Has Famous State Landmark Location Way Incorrect

The map depicts the famous 40 ton rock as lying much further northeast than it actually does. Was it moved at some point?

We all make mistakes, but it got me wondering how many other businesses in the state might have the same artist creation hanging up in high traffic areas inside.

The site is a popular picnic, hiking, a photography stop along Highway 30, roughly 16 miles west of Twin Falls. Often, these types of artistic errors make them more interesting, and more valuable in some cases.

Places To Get Really High Around Twin Falls

Since marijuana is still illegal in Idaho, you can’t legally walk down the street and get high, but there's another way to get high around Twin Falls that is much more socially acceptable.
