The information shared by the Minidoka County Fire Protection District, one of the departments that responded to the accident, shared pictures of the crash, information on what they believe happened, and an update on the condition of the three occupants from the vehicles.
The post says the accident happened at 300 W 200 S around 8 AM on Thursday, March 18th, which is southwest of the city of Rupert. Two vehicles were involved in the accident: a black Dodge Ram pickup truck and a white Chevy Impala sedan. The Ram ended up off the road on its side in a tree and caught fire. MCFPD says there were two passengers in the truck and one in the car.
One of the people was airlifted from the scene of the accident, while the other two were initially taken by ground ambulance to MMH and then taken by air ambulance to another hospital. The report doesn’t specify whether the person taken by helicopter from the scene was in the car or truck.
A dog from one of the vehicles was also killed in the accident.

Reactions on Social Media to the Fiery Accident in Minidoka County
Comments on the Minidoka County Fire Protection District’s social media post from residents in the area claim that the stretch of road is a common spot for people to speed, and that a large pine tree could have been a contributing factor in the crash due to decreased visibility. The speed limit on that stretch of road is 45 miles per hour going east to west and there is a large tree next to the stop sign at the northeast side of intersection. Though the tree where the truck ended up on fire and the location of the Impala following the crash make it seem more likely that the car was coming from the south and the truck may have been coming from the west, not the side of the intersection with the tree.
One comment on a KMVT post says the person from the vehicle that was on fire was already out of the vehicle and pulled to safety by two bystanders, not pulled from the fiery vehicle by a single bystander.
