Last year the Downtown Commons in Twin Falls opened their first skating rink. It is free to the public if you have your own skates. The biggest complaint last year was that the rink itself wasn't very big. This year that is going to change.

Skating the Commons is back this Friday, November 29th and it is new and improved. The skating rink is supposed to be larger and improved. The rink will be larger and there will be a new skate sharpener available for the public. The rink is free to skate if you have your own skates. If you don't have your own skates you can rent them for $5.

General hours of operation for the skate rentals are Monday through Friday 4 p.m. through 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. During Christmas Break for the kids it will be open Monday through Sunday noon to 8 p.m.

AWOL Adventure Sports also say they are available for private parties or large groups. Could be a fun office Christmas party idea or a team building exercise. Admittedly though, I don't think I would want my coworkers to see me fall on my butt that many times.

I have never been ice skating before and this might be the year I go. I think that it could be a fun winter date. Have some dinner at any of the delicious Downtown restaurants and go skating. I am not sure if it would be more magical or more miserable if it was currently snowing while skating. Either way, we are so excited for opening day.
