BOISE, Idaho (AP) — President Barack Obama has granted a conditional commutation to an Idaho man serving time on a drug charge. Jose Flores Molina of Nampa was one of 98 people in the round of commutations announced by the White House last week.

Molina was sentenced in 2003 to 30 years in prison for possessing heroin and methamphetamine with intent to distribute the drugs. The president's commutation grant means Molina's prison sentence will expire next fall as long as he enrolls in a residential drug treatment program. Obama has granted 944 people clemency so far, including 324 people who were serving life sentences.

Almost all of those receiving commutations were convicted of drug-related offenses, and most are considered nonviolent offenders, although some were convicted of firearms charges in connection with drug crimes.
