Oh, Oregon. What shall we do with you? Now, there's a report that an Oregon guy is being allowed to call himself an engineer. But, there's one problem. He isn't one.

this story has opened Pandora's box of First Amendment activists that are now arguing about whether there should be protected jobs that require a state license.

I first saw this story shared on Hardocp. It was reported by Motherboard that an Oregon guy sent a letter to the state indicating there was a problem with their traffic lights. One big problem. He referred to himself as "an engineer". So, the state of Oregon fined him $500 since you can't do that unless you're certified by a board.

Now, after receiving his $500 payment, he is now being allowed to call himself an engineer again. They claim it's only temporary pending an appeal, but this is Oregon so you never know.

I've decided to test this theory and declare myself what I've always wanted to be. Let's see if it works.

Nope. Still not Batman. Thanks, Oregon.
