SCAM: Be Aware Twin Falls; Fake Kohl’s $100 Coupon Being Shared
A phony Kohl's survey is finding its way into people's emails and social media pages that is offering a big credit as part of an anniversary celebration. Kohl's is advising the public not to pass it on.Kohl's department store officials have warned the public via its Twitter page that a bogus $100 coupon is being shared across the United States in honor of the company's nearly 60 years in business. A message sent out by corporate on November 20, 2019, which included a site the public can visit to verify all in-store specials, is currently being offered.
The false coupon offer directs the public to share the message, and in return promises an instant $100 coupon toward store merchandise. The store further added in the warning that no affiliation whatsoever exists between the people responsible for creating the scam, which presents itself in the form of a survey, and the department store itself.
Utah-based Woodbury Corporation, who manages the Magic Valley Mall property in Twin Falls, made the announcement back in August that a Kohl's would be opening in the old Sears location. Plans to open a Kohl's in 2014 in Twin Falls were dashed when the company opted out. An exact opening date for the new Twin Falls store hasn't been made publicly, but it's rumored to be sometime early in 2020.
Many of these bogus coupon offers are simply ploys by scammers to gain access to your personnel information. Email accounts are also often infected with viruses upon opening and sharing such material.
