Accidents in Jerome Leave 1 Dead and 2 Injured
One woman is dead and two others are injured after 2 accidents on the same highway in Southern Idaho happened over the weekend.
1 Dead and 2 Injured in Car Accidents in Jerome, ID
Both accidents happened less than 10 miles apart on US93 in Jerome on Saturday, March 9th. One accident happened a bit after noon and the other just before midnight.
The first accident, which resulted in one driver being killed, happened Saturday afternoon at 12:49 PM southbound on US93 North of Jerome at mile marker 63. A 52-year-old male was driving a 1995 GMC SUV South and a 69-year-old female was driving North in a 2006 Toyota car when she lost control and entered the southbound lane where she was struck by the GMC.
The 69-year-old female was not wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to her injuries on the scene. The 52-year-old male was wearing a seatbelt and was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital.
The accident is being investigated by Idaho State Police.
Idaho State Police also responded to another accident along the same stretch of highway that night at 11:09 PM. The crash happened on US93 at mile marker 54. A 58-year-old male was driving a Freightliner semi-truck and a 28-year-old female was driving a Kia Soul. The female driver rear-ended the Freightliner.
The 28-year-old female was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported via air ambulance to a local hospital. The 58-year-old male was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
The cause of the accident is being investigated by Idaho State Police.
