I think that it would be weird for students to be friends with their teachers online. Just too much could go wrong. If you need to contact a teacher you can talk in school or send an email. This teacher was fired for 'friending' students on Facebook. 79-year-old Carol Thebarge has been a substitute teacher for the past 35 years. She is a big Facebook user, even at age 79,and a bunch of her online friends are students from the school.

This isn't one of those weird stories where she invites the students over to her house for pajama parties - she uses the internet for good. She uses Facebook as a safe place where kids can send her messages about bullying, feeling depressed, school, or any other issues. She is a nice grandma lady.

The school decided to not allow Facebook interaction between teachers and students because a math teacher at the school was just arrested for sexual contact with a 14-year-old. So they told Carol to delete or unfriend all the students.

Carol decided she just didn't want to delete her Facebook friends and take away the forum to interact with the students.  So the school fired her.

Do you think this is fair?
