On Tuesday, legislators will vote for approval of the City Park Defoliation Plan - which would remove all trees and other pollinating plants from city parks and buildings.  The plan would save the city millions of dollars per year in water and maintenance costs - but possibly the most important impact will be that of children with allergies.  Thousands of Twin Falls residents suffer from allergies, and each year dread the Spring season and hole themselves up in their houses which means they aren't spending money which costs the city money.  The city hopes to save on low income household medication costs by eliminating almost all pollen in the air, which would make for a healthier city and thus more appealing to tourists and locals.

The defoliating will begin sometime next month starting with all city and county buildings and moving on to the parks by mid to late May.
