City of Twin Falls Plans to Turn This Corn Field Into a Subdivision With a Gas Station and Storage Units
The Twin Falls Planning and Zoning Commission is having a special meeting on Tuesday evening to discuss the proposal to allow the Cook’s Corner Subdivision to become a reality on the south side of Twin Falls. The Plan is to build a gas station with a convenience store, storage units, and a residential neighborhood.
The project will take the current 39-acre field, which is currently growing corn, at the southwest corner of Blue Lakes Blvd and Orchard Drive. At the public meeting on Tuesday, the preliminary plat for Cook’s Corner will be discussed. People interested in attending to learn more or share opinions can do so.

A New Subdivision, Gas Station with Convenience Store, and Storage Units Coming to South Twin Falls
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 14th, at 6 PM in the Twin Falls City Hall Chambers at 203 Main Ave E. Much of the information is already online for the public to view. A notice of public hearing has also been posted at the plat location with paper fliers and information.
Here’s what we know so far about the Cook’s Corner Subdivision plans. There will be a gas station and convenience store with parking spaces on 2.54 acres the corner of Orchard and Blue Lakes, known as Block 1 Lot 2. The 3.24-acre lot to the west of the gas station, Block 1 Lot 1, is going to be used for storage units.

The subdivision of houses, on 30.6 acres, is not part of the preliminary plat being discussed on Tuesday. But the subdivision location can be seen on the plat map.

We do wonder what this new construction means for the aged and decrepit home on the northwest corner of that intersection. Will they leave it up as a landmark, tear it down (finally), or is nothing going to change since that land isn’t part of the construction plat?
