This is going to surprise a lot of people based on what we see driving around town each day.

Local law enforcement is seeing it too, and they recently posted on social media a reminder about speed limits in school zones during the summer.

Did You Know You Have to Obey School Zone Speed Limits in Idaho in the Summer?

I’ll admit that I feel the pressure to drive a little faster in school zones during the summer if there’s a car that’s tailing me closely, but that doesn’t make it right. If there’s a school, you still have to obey the posted signs.

That’s the good news: there are a few options for signs in Twin Falls and around Idaho, and some of them may allow you to go 35 instead of 20. Some signs have flashing lights that indicate when you need to slow down, others have specific times, and some may say ‘when children are present’.

It’s also worth noting that the signs may change depending on the street around the school. Twin Falls High School has a flashing light for the school zone indicator on Locust and a specific timeframe sign along Filer.

Keep an eye out for the signs and follow their indications. If the car in front of you is going slow, there may be a reason for it.
