UPDATE 072226: New report shares details of vehicles and occupants in the deadly crash near Wells, NV, on Monday. Various news outlets shared the details from authorities. The report states that a gray Honda Odyssey was traveling south on US93 and a white Toyota Tacoma was headed north on the highway. It is believed that the Honda crossed the center line while attempting to pass another vehicle and struck the Toyota head-on.

The Toyota went off the road and ended up on its passenger side. The Honda was spun sideways and ended up in the highway.

Details Released in Deadly Wells, Nevada Car Accident

The driver of the Honda and two young passengers passed away at the scene. A young passenger in the Toyota also passed away at the scene of the crash. All of the occupants killed in the crash were from California, including a 13-year-old boy.

Details of the other occupants weren't mentioned in most of the stories, but all other occupants, including three adults and a 5-year-old girl, were taken to local hospitals for care and remain in critical condition.

An article from India Today says the father, Shaik Abdul Naveed and a 5-year-old  daughter, Khadeeja, in the Honda were among those critically injured in the crash. Naveed is reportedly in a coma.

The Elko Daily Free Press shared that Sophia was traveling with her parents, who were both injured in the Toyota.

ORIGINAL STORY 072026: A deadly accident was reported by authorities and news sources in Nevada on Monday afternoon, north of the city of Wells. Initial reports say at least 4 people were killed in the head-on collision, and 4 people were possibly injured.

The crash involved two vehicles about 5 miles north of Wells, near mile marker 79.

Deadly Accident Reported on Highway 93 South of Twin Falls Near Wells, NV

The Nevada road reports website posted the accident alert at 12:03 PM on Monday, July 20th. The accident was a head-on collision between two passenger cars on US 93 near mile marker 79 that blocked both lanes of travel for hours.

A Facebook post from the Elko County Fire Protection District, one of the responding entities, says the crash happened at 11:39 AM. Their post states that multiple aviation assets responded to assist with victims, along with numerous other first responder groups. Eight patients were reported to be involved, four of whom were confirmed to have died in the crash. The other four were reportedly taken to local hospitals.

Under a social media post from KTVN 2 News in Nevada, multiple people shared pictures and videos of the accident.

Any witnesses to the accident are encouraged to contact the Nevada State Police.
