24 In. Of Snow Possible In Winter Storm Warning For Blaine County

Blaine County is under a Winter Storm warning until Tuesday, December 14th at 11 am. According to the winter storm warning information, up to 24 inches of snow is possible in areas above 6000 feet. Lower elevations could see up to 8 inches of snow.

According to the Blaine County Sheriff's Office, expect road conditions to be poor. There is likely going to be heavy snow and wind leading to blowing snow on the roadways. It could be very difficult to travel through the area, especially higher elevations.

The area impacted will be Sawtooth REgion including Stanley, Ketchum, Hailey, Bellevue, and Sun Valley. The lower mountain valley locations could see anywhere from 4 to 8 inches of snow. Anything over 6000 feet through Tuesday morning could see 12 to 24 inches of snow.

If you must travel through the area make sure you are prepared just in case something happens. Have snow boots, food, water, heating sources, flashlights, and anything else you might be able to keep in your vehicle that will help you until you can be helped.

Over the mountain passes, there are expected to be whiteout conditions. If travel is not a must it is best to avoid the area. There is not much scarier than whiteout, blowing, and wintery conditions like this.
