Winter Weather Advisories have been issued in parts of Southern Idaho and some roads have been closed due to weather conditions.

Wind and snow will impact travel and outdoor conditions overnight into Tuesday.

Winter Weather Advisory for Treasure Valley and Eastern Idaho

The National Weather Service suggests residents and travelers plan ahead for the storm headed to Southern Idaho. The Treasure Valley has a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 11PM Tuesday. The storm will bring up to 4 inches of snow. There is also a chance the snow will turn to rain during the day and then back to snow in the evening, so road conditions will be difficult for drivers.

Wind gusts as high as 45 miles per hour along with 2 to 5 inches of snow expected in the Pocatello and Idaho Falls region which includes: Arco/Mud Lake Desert, Upper Snake River Plain, Lower Snake River Plain, Marsh/Arbon Highlands, and Beaverhead/Lemhi Highlands. This includes Mud Lake, INL, Craters of the Moon NM, Idaho Falls, Rexburg, St. Anthony, Pocatello, Blackfoot, American Falls, Shelley, Fort Hall, Inkom, McCammon, Downey, Lava Hot Springs, Dubois, and Spencer. Road conditions can be seen on the Idaho 511 website. Some roads in Eastern Idaho are already closed.

The Magic Valley will also see some of the storm, but no special alerts have been issued. Twin Falls should see snow starting Monday evening into Tuesday. The snow will turn to rain in the afternoon and possibly some additional snow Tuesday night with less than an inch of accumulation. Lows will be around or below freezing on both nights, so roads can be slick. The city of Twin Falls has sprayed its special brine mixture on roads to lower the chance of freezing.
