Major Retailer Plans to Close 727 Stores. Including All California Locations.
An auto parts retailer with stores across the United States has announced plans to close hundreds of their locations.
Store Closures Will Have a Major Effect on California As More Than 700 Stores Close
It has been a great year for many businesses and for others it has been their demise. Remember Redbox? It seems like a long time ago, but their bankruptcy filing and quick closure of all kiosks (though some can still be seen outside many businesses) was only a few months ago. You can add Advanced Auto Parts to the lift of those who didn’t have a great year.
Based on information from MarketWatch, with details they garnished from a recent quarterly report from Advanced Auto Parts. The plan is to shutter more than 520 corporate locations, cut ties with 204 independent stores, and close 4 distribution centers in the western states by the middle of 2025.
Which Advanced Auto Parts Stores Will Close in California
Many other news sources have covered these closures but none have information on which stores will close. The only information available at this time is a graphic MarketWatch got from Advanced Auto Parts. It shows a full exit from 5 western states including California. We looked through the legal filing by AAP and couldn't find the map graphic.
There are 139 Advanced Auto Parts stores in California: Bakersfield has 5, 5 others in Sacramento, and other cities have 2 to 3 stores.
Advanced Auto Parts will also be closing all stores in Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and Arizona. The graphic from MarketWatch which shows the states that will lose all locations, also includes red dots indicating other store locations but doesn’t specify if these are the remaining stores or the ones that will close though it appears to be the locations that will remain open.
