In a press release today it was announced that the Blue Angels will be returning to Air Magic Valley in 2012! Sweet - maybe I can fly in one of the jets again and try to last longer than 15 minutes without almost puking!
Here's the Press release info.
Twin Falls will be hosting the Blue Angels jet team the summer of 2012 at the Magic Valley Regional Airport. The date for the “Air Magic Valley” air show will be Saturday, July 28th and Sunday, July 29th, 2012.
Air Magic Valley Committee Chairman Phil Hafer is excited the Blue Angels are returning. “It’s an honor to have them at our air show again,” Hafer said. “The Blue Angels loved the community support we showed during their 2008 performance, and we are excited to have them return.”
According to the Blue Angels’ website, “The team’s mission is to enhance Navy and Marine Corps recruiting efforts and to represent the naval service to the United States, its elected leadership and foreign nations. The Blue Angels serve as positive role models and goodwill ambassadors for the U. S. Navy and Marine Corps.
“A Blue Angels flight demonstration exhibits choreographed refinements of skills possessed by all naval aviators. The Blue Angels’ C-130, affectionately known as Fat Albert, begins each demonstration by exhibiting its maximum performance capabilities during a ten-minute performance. Shortly thereafter, you will see the graceful aerobatic maneuvers of the four-jet Diamond Formation, in concert with the fast-paced, high-performance maneuvers of its two Solo pilots. Finally, the team illustrates the pinnacle of precision flying, performing maneuvers locked as a unit in the renowned, six-jet Delta Formation.”
When the Blue Angels last performed at Magic Valley Regional Airport in 2008, more than 25,000 people attended the two-day show.
