
Will Eggs Be Back to An Affordable Price By Easter in Idaho, Washington, and Utah?
While Easter is a holiday to remember and celebrate the life and resurrection of Jesus Christ, much like Christmas, it is often overshadowed by the commercial celebrations.
Egg Hunts are a big deal for Easter celebrations, and this year, you might need to add a prayer for affordable eggs to dye and eat. On the bright side, a prayer would add an appropriate religious tone to your celebrations.
Will Eggs Be Back to An Affordable Price By Easter in Idaho, Washington, and Utah
Reports show that the majority of states in the West share an average egg price. With the exception of Nevada and California (the 2 states with the highest egg prices in the US), the average price for a dozen eggs is listed right around $7.39 on the Egg Prices website.
But that data is based on numbers from March and hasn’t been updated to reflect the drop in price that has happened in April. The latest reports from the USDA show the average wholesale egg price at $3.08 and the average advertised price at $4.28 per dozen.
Trade Economics shows egg prices at $3.06 in April, down from a high of $8.14 in March.
I went to a local store by my house where a dozen eggs is $5.49, and then I checked at Walmart where a dozen eggs cost $4.97.
Should You Buy Easter Eggs Now or Wait for Prices to Drop?
A year ago, eggs were under $3 a dozen, so we are still paying more in 2025, but prices have definitely dropped in the last few weeks and are forecasted to be back to ‘normal’ by the end of April.
SoFi predicts egg prices will get back down to $2.50 in the next few months and down to $2.10 by the 3rd quarter of the year.

We’ve seen egg prices rise like the resurrected Savior over the last few months, and that has some people worried about being able to afford real eggs for Easter celebrations. Luckily, it seems that most people have moved to plastic eggs for decorations and egg hunts, and the real eggs are used for dye activities and then transformed into deviled eggs.
