Of all places for this to happen - New York would have been towards the bottom of the list! An elementary school principal has banned her Kindergarteners from singing the Lee Greenwood song God Bless The USA (also know as Proud To Be An American) because she feels it would be offensive to other cultures. Granted it probably would offend some cultures if you were singing it in their country - but this is our country, this is The USA! Despite backlash from parents, administrators say it is in the principals power to decide what can and can't be sung at school.

Here's the real kicker - since they can't sing God Bless The USA they are going to be singing Justin Bieber's song Baby. So kindergarteners singing a song about love and having a girlfriend/boyfriend is OK, but having a patriotic heart is not OK?
