Idaho State Police Responded to Around a Dozen Accidents Due to the Wind on Wednesday

Wednesday was a windy day, and the weather was a contributing factor in approximately a dozen accidents on a two-mile section of an Idaho highway. The Idaho State Police reported that the accidents also all happened within a three-and-a-half-hour timeframe.

Crews worked through the day and into the night, clearing the wrecks.

Multiple Semi-Trucks Blown Over in Idaho Storm Near the Utah Border

The Idaho State Police shared their information in a news release, and the Idaho Transportation Department shared information and pictures on social media. Several semi-trucks were blown over, and personal vehicles were also affected by the inclement weather.

ISP stated that they responded to about 11 separate incidents on Interstate 15 between mile markers 43 and 45 due to sustained high winds and powerful gusts up to 65 miles per hour. The majority of the accidents happened between 12:30 PM and 4 PM and included crashes and vehicle rollovers.

The Idaho Transportation Department shared pictures of accidents and damage due to the wind from around the state.

Reports from drivers in the area counted at least 13 semi-trucks toppled over and one video shows 7 or 8 within a few feet of each other.

With the majority of the accidents reported yesterday happening on I-15 near the Utah border, it only adds to the influx of I-15 accidents this year. We had previously reported nearly a dozen fatal and injury accidents on the highway through Idaho this year.

There hasn’t been a report yet on injuries from the accidents that happened on Wednesday, but each accident is still being investigated.
