If you haven’t heard this a dozen times yet today, you will: May the Fourth be with you! May 4th is Star Wars Day and since this is Idaho, I don’t really need to explain what that means.

I know that you know the significance of today because you clicked on this story and are most likely a fan of Star Wars. I know this because I am strong with the force and can read minds. Actually, I can read words, and a recent study on the nerdiness (or coolness depending on who you are) of each state has Idaho pretty high on the list. I’m certain I contributed to our win since I wore my Stormtrooper helmet as a mask during COVID and hit the streets with my kids dressed as Stormtroopers a few times to make people smile.

Does Idaho Really Have More Star Wars Fans Than Almost Every Other State?

Based on Google Trends over the last 4 years, Idahoans have had a long-running passion for everything Star Wars. Except for Jar Jar Binks and calling baby Yoda Grogu. There are some things we won’t accept as acceptable. The only states who beat us in love for Star Wars are Utah and Alaska. Alaska only beat us by two points and there has to be some sort of Jedi mind trick happening in Utah because they scored 100 out of 100 every year.

The stats were posted on the Bookies website with a few explanations about the results and methodology used to find the winners. An interesting finding in the study is that every state that shares a border with Idaho and Utah is in the top 11 Star Wars-loving states. Looks like we’ve had a positive influence on our young Padawan neighbors.

Since we don’t need to argue that we love Star Wars, let’s shift our focus to a related argument: will you be celebrating Revenge of the Fifth or Revenge of the Sixth? That’s a real debate.
