An accident on Monday morning in Southern Idaho caused a semi-truck to catch fire and is believed to have been a factor in a second accident that injured three people. Both accidents happened on Interstate 84 near the Kasota Road interchange between Twin Falls and Burley.

The driver of the semi-truck was injured in the initial accident, and three others were injured in the second accident.

Second Southern Idaho Highway Accident Related to Semi Truck on Fire Reported

The Idaho State Police have released news releases on each of the accidents and believe the second crash, involving 3 vehicles, was caused by a failure to slow for traffic that had stopped for the first accident.

Info on both accidents can be found below, starting with the first crash that caused a semi-truck to catch fire. Pictures and details from the crash were also shared on social media. The first accident happened at 5:40 AM on Monday, June 1st, on Interstate 84 near mile marker 200.

A 28-year-old male from Puyallup, Washington, was traveling eastbound on I84 near milepost 200 in a 2007 Kenworth semi-truck.

He drove off the roadway and struck a delineator post and a guardrail, and then the semi-truck caught fire.

Crews put the fire out and transported the driver to a local hospital by ground ambulance.

The crashes are being investigated by ISP.

Serious Injury Accidents Reported on Southern Idaho Highway on Monday Morning

In the second accident, three vehicles were involved, and three people were injured. The incident happened at 9:45 AM, about a mile and a half from the semi-truck fire accident between mile markers 198 and 199.

A green 1999 Ford Expedition driven by a 37-year-old female from Oregon was heading eastbound on I84.

The driver failed to reduce speed due to slowed traffic and collided with a blue 2016 Subaru Forester.

The Subaru was driven by a 22-year-old female from Boise.

The Subaru then collided into a White 2025 Ford F350 driven by a 24-year-old male from Gooding, Idaho, with one passenger, a 32-year-old male from Mexico.

The driver of the Expedition was taken by air ambulance to a local hospital. Both occupants of the F350 were taken by ground ambulance to local hospitals, and the driver of the Subaru was not transported.
