The Scariest Intersection in Twin Falls is Now a 4-Way Stop
It’s a good day for the south side of Twin Falls as the scariest intersection in town is now a 4-way stop.
Previously, the intersection was a 2-way stop for East/West traffic with blinking lights, yet it remained accident-prone.
New Stop Signs Installed at This Dangerous Twin Falls Intersection
This intersection has always scared me. Despite the blinking lights and stop signs, vehicles traveling East and West often fail to stop. Plus, if you are heading south on Washington there is a house with trees and shrubbery blocking the view of traffic on the East, making it hard to see if a car is approaching and will stop. Out of precaution, I slow down significantly as I approach the intersection because I’ve seen cars blow through the stop signs.
That shouldn’t be an issue anymore as the intersection of Washington Street and South Hills Road/3600 N/Highway 74 is now an ‘All Way’ stop. This is the intersection where Washington Street meets up with the turn to get on 74 to Highway 93. It will take time for drivers to get used to the change. As I took pictures of the intersection I saw 2 cars not come to a full stop and 2 others that waited longer than necessary for cars from the opposite direction to stop before proceeding.
Here’s what you can expect to see, and look out for, with the new signs at the intersection.

With the new 4-way stop in place, drivers should also be mindful of the existing speed limits in the area. They haven’t changed, but with the new traffic change, it’s a good reminder. As you head north, the speed limit drops to 45 mph just before the intersection. Heading south, it increases to 50 mph shortly after the intersection.
