Millions Have Watched This Insane Kuna ‘Fire-Nado’ Video Online

Fire season will hopefully be over SOON here in Idaho and in the rest of the Pacific Northwest, however, these high temperatures are keeping everyone on their toes late into August.

Conditions in Boise have been dry and the heat has been relentless. A perfect concoction for wildfire.

Just last week, a wildfire broke out near Kuna--just minutes from downtown Boise. Plumes of smoke could be see from all over the Treasure Valley, the smell of smoke quickly filled Treasure Valley air, and first responders were needed immediately.

This fire didn't end up being your run of the mill sage fire in the desert--video captured from the scene quickly went viral online, garnering millions of views from across the world all because these flames turned into one spooky phenomenon.

The Kuna Rural Fire District Facebook page shared some footage of this crazy 'fire-nado' and thanked local partners for helping keep it under control:

Kuna Firefighters encountered one of the BIGGEST “Fire-Nados” they’ve seen in a while. Thanks to all responding agencies, this fire was kept at bay.

A tornado in Idaho is scary enough, throw in some flames? We would be running the other way...FAST! The average person has probably never seen one of these and hopefully will never have to.

A 'Fire-Nado', also known as a Fire Tornado or a Fire Whirl, is formed when intense heat from a wildfire meets turbulent winds. The spinning vortex is made of hot air, ash, and flames.
