WARNING: An Extended Heat Advisory has Now Been Issued For Southern Idaho

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for some Southern Idaho counties starting today and lasting through the weekend.

The Heat Advisory has been issued for the Snake Plain, Magic Valley, and the South Hills. Temperatures are expected to be 5 to 7 degrees higher than normal with highs topping out above 100 degrees through the weekend. Temperatures aren’t expected to drop much overnight, staying in the low 70s on Saturday and Sunday night, which will make the following days even worse.

The National Weather Service warning states:

Heat Saturday and Sunday will affect anyone without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Precautions should be taken in advance of this intense and prolonged heatwave.

A stray thunderstorm is possible Thursday evening. Friday the high should hit 101 degrees, Saturday the high will be 104, and Sunday will stick at 100.
