Why You Won’t See Exotic Animals at Lagoon in Utah Anymore

Most of the exotic animals at Lagoon were only seen on the Wild Kingdom Train ride, but you could often see a tiger as you walked from the main park past Lagoon-a-Beach or a few other animals as you waited for the Sky Ride on the east side of the park.

There aren’t any updates on the Lagoon website or social media that we could find, but reports say that the big cats have already been moved to a location in Colorado. KSL says a lion, a tiger, 2 leopards, and 2 cougars were transported to the Colorado Wild Animal Sanctuary in December.

A representative of Lagoon says the rest of the animals will be moved out over the next year, and the enclosures will eventually be replaced with expanded park ‘experiences and attractions’.

The animals at the park have been a source of controversy, as some people believe the living conditions were unacceptable, while the park claims the animals ‘received excellent care’.

Animals or not, the Wild Kingdom Train ride is a welcome attraction for many. Everyone loves a train ride, it allows the feet a rest from standing and walking, and the train has a butterfly factor of 1 - which means it also gives your stomach a break from the speed and spinning rides.
