My Claim to Fame? The First Burger King Mobile Order in Twin Falls in 2018
This memory just popped up on my Facebook feed as a reminder that I should have my name on a wall somewhere in Twin Falls for I did on August 31st, 2018. There are very few people who know of the monumental event I was part of, but that changes today, 5 years after the historic moment.
On This Day in 2018, I Made History With the First Burger King Mobile Order in Twin Falls
I’ll share the Facebook post below, but first here’s a little rundown of what led to this moment. In 2018, not many restaurants had apps where you could order food. That’s almost hard to imagine today where everyone has an app - even us - that lets you make orders and even gain perks and points for some sort of freebie or discount.
So, in 2018 I downloaded the apps for a few of our local chain restaurants; Burger King, McDonalds, Culver’s, and Chick-fil-A. On August 31st I downloaded the Burger King app and made a mobile order. I didn’t think it was anything special until I got to the restaurant. I pulled into the drive-thru line and told the worker that I had a mobile order. Radio silence for a few seconds.
Then the guy tells me to hang on and it’s silent for a while again. He comes back and tells me to pull forward. When I get to the window, there are 5 employees, including the manager, cashier, and a few cooks who seem confused and excited.
They took a moment to open the window while the manager took a photo of my bag of food (which I later learned was so he could send it to his boss). Then the cashier said to me that he was sorry and they were excited because this was the first mobile order they had and didn’t know what they were supposed to do. Well, they got it figured out quickly and I got my food and made history…at least in my book of records.

We’ve come a long way since then, and I am sure nobody at Burger King remembers me, but I did go through again today with a mobile order and it was a lot less exciting. I’ll forgive the crew, they were probably busy and didn’t even work there back in 2018.
