Idaho is making changes in 2025 and early 2026 to how the vehicles of its residents will look.

The change isn’t forcing everyone to go buy an electric vehicle or to curb any vehicle made in the 1980s (or anything ever made by SAAB) though that would be a great plan.

No, Idaho is adding a variety of new license plate options to their customized plate list over the next few months.

One of the plates has raised questions of racist connotations by featuring the Gadsden flag and a ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ slogan, 2 are retro potato-themed plates, a ‘Too Great For Hate’ plate, and an ‘Appeal to Heaven’ license plate option.

Idaho has 5 new license plate options planned to come out in 2025 and early 2026.

What Are the 5 New License Plate Options in Idaho in 2025 and 2026?

Regular license plate fees are deposited into the state highway account, and funds from the sale of each new custom license plate will benefit the following organizations:

Don’t Tread on Me Senate Bill 1105: Cost will be $35 in addition to the regular registration fee. Funds will benefit the firearms safety grant program and the state highway account. The plate was originally going to be available in 2025, but will now be available on January 1, 2026.

Retro Black Potato House Bill 204: Cost will be $70 in addition to the regular registration fee. Proceeds benefit the Idaho Potato Commission and the state highway account. The plate will be available on July 1, 2025.

Retro White Potato House Bill 204: Cost will be $2.75 in addition to the regular registration fee. Funds will go into the state highway account. The plate will be available on July 1, 2025.

An Appeal to Heaven House Bill 235: Cost will be $35 in addition to the regular registration fee. Funds will go into the state highway account. The plate will be available on January 1, 2026.

Too Great For Hate Senate Bill 1072: Cost will be $35 in addition to the regular registration fee. Funds will benefit the Idaho Commission on Human Rights and the state highway account. The plate will be available on January 1, 2026.
