Rollover Accident Claims Life of Driver on Idaho Highway

A report released by the Idaho State Police details a recent fatal accident near Rexburg.

Idaho State Police also announced a planned patrol emphasis on a dangerous section of highway in Boise over Labor Day weekend to educate drivers about safe driving.

Idaho Driver Killed in Rollover Accident Near Rexburg

The fatal accident reported by the Idaho State Police happened on August 26th, a few minutes after 4 in the afternoon. The accident happened on US20 at mile marker 341 and only involved one vehicle, which rolled after leaving the highway.

From the ISP report:

• A 46-year-old male from Rexburg was driving Westbound on US20 in a white 2013 Ford Transit van.
• The van veered onto the right shoulder then rolled, coming to rest on its top.
• The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to their injuries.

The accident is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

Idaho State Police Plan Joint Patrol Emphasis Over Holiday Weekend in Boise

This weekend will be the Labor Day holiday weekend, and Idaho State Police will be joining the Boise County Sheriff’s Office in patrolling a dangerous stretch of highway to ensure safe driving habits are being exercised by residents and visitors.

State Highway 55 in Boise County has been a problem road in Idaho, with numerous reports of dangerous driving and vehicle accidents. Authorities will be watching for dangerous driving behaviors:

including speeding, aggressive driving, distracted driving, and unsafe passing.

Labor Day weekend is one of the busiest times of the year on Idaho roads, and that can lead to additional traffic congestion, impatient drivers, and bad driving decisions.
