UPDATE: Suspect Neutralized in Wallace, Idaho Police Standoff, Three Injured

Police and news outlets in Northern Idaho have confirmed a large police presence consisting of multiple law enforcement agencies responding to an active shooter situation at the Shoshone County Public Safety Facility.

Authorities have confirmed the neutralization of the suspect and that two bystanders and a police officer were shot during the incident.

Updated Wallace, ID Police Station Standoff: Three Injured, Suspect Dead

On Friday, December 26th, at approximately 2:40 PM, law enforcement from Idaho, Montana, and Washington responded to the incident in Wallace, Idaho. Officials reported around 5 PM that the suspect had been neutralized. A press conference was held at 6:30 to update the public on the situation. Sheriffs from Kootenai and Shoshone Counties participated in the conference.

The identity of the shooter and those injured has not been released yet. Police confirmed that the shooter was killed. Other news sources report that a police officer was grazed on the ear by broken glass (some reports say the officer was shot in the ear), and two bystanders were shot in their legs by the gunman, who had barricaded himself inside the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office. Idaho Tough on Crime reported on social media that the gunman had multiple firearms.

Other reports allege that a bullet struck a nearby business and vehicles. KHQ shared video and photos from residents who were near the scene, along with updates from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office. This video was shared by North Idaho News during the standoff.

Wallace, Idaho, is known as the Center of the Universe and for two brothels, The Lux and The Luxette, made famous during a silver mining rush in the area.
