Following reports of gunshots fired at a remote Idaho campground, Idaho State Police responded to the location, which resulted in a pursuit after the suspect fled.

Idaho State Police are investigating the incident with help from the Cassia County Coroner’s Office and the Minidoka County Sheriff's Office.

Deadly Police Pursuit and Rollover Accident Reported in Southern Idaho

The fatal accident happened just after midnight on Tuesday morning, June 24th. Cassia County law enforcement requested assistance from the Idaho State Police to locate a suspect after reports of gunshots at the Sublett Campground near the Sublett Reservoir.

Authorities located the suspect, but he drove away as soon as they arrived. The vehicle was a 2005 Volvo XC90, and the driver’s identity has not been confirmed at this time.

Police were able to get the man to stop, but he sped away as the officer approached his vehicle. The report from ISP states:

Troopers pursued the Volvo but lost visual contact due to high speeds and dusty conditions. Minutes later, troopers found the car had crashed and rolled.

The driver was located nearby, and troopers immediately initiated life-saving measures and continued efforts until medics arrived. Unfortunately, the suspect died at the scene.

Inside the vehicle, authorities found a loaded rifle, a shotgun, and additional ammunition that didn’t correspond to either gun in the car.

Teen Driver Killed in Central Idaho Rollover Car Crash

Idaho State Police are investigating an accident involving an 18-year-old female driver on Monday evening. The teen drove into a ditch and rolled her Toyota 4Runner.

She was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital but later passed away from her injuries.

Sadly, she was not wearing a seat belt, and drugs and alcohol are possible factors in the tragic accident.
