
How Do Gas Prices Today in ID, WA, and UT Compare to Previous Years?
Things may not be going the way everyone wants them to with the United States policy and economy.
But there is at least one thing people should be happy about: Gas is $2 cheaper now than a few years ago.
How Do Biden-Era Gas Prices Compare to Current Trump Prices?
Not only have egg prices dropped a little bit recently (and are expected to return to normal in April), but the other hot-topic commodity that had been at an ‘unacceptable’ level, gasoline, has also seen a drop across the nation. Reports have the average gas price across the nation lower than when Biden left office.
Actually, gas prices are at a level that we could arguably be happy about. With Regular Unleaded prices under $3 in many locations, it’s a celebratory level compared to 2022, 2023, and even 2024.
A search on Gas Buddy for the highest and lowest prices in Washington, Idaho, and Utah shows prices at, or below, $3 in each state. Washington has the highest prices of the three with Idaho about 10 cents under them and Utah at a respectable 10 cents under Idaho.
Cheapest gas prices in each state based on info from Gas Buddy:
- Utah: $2.79 in Lehi
- Idaho: $2.49 in Pinehurst
- Washington: $3.00 in Clarkston and White Swan
Average gas prices in each state based on info from AAA:
- Utah: $3.14
- Idaho: $3.26
- Washington: $4.09
Are Gas Prices $2 Cheaper Than 2 Years Ago in Idaho, Utah, and WA?
In the list of cheapest gas locations, Idaho does have a lower price than Utah, but overall prices are about 10 cents cheaper than Idaho.
Even at around $3 per gallon though, it’s lower than previous years.

Looking back at articles from previous years, the average price for gas in Idaho got up to $5.25 in 2023. A year earlier, in 2022, gas was up to $4.40, and in 2024, the highest average gas price was $3.94 per gallon.
The gas prices reflected above are overall averages and each city and individual gas station will have a different price at their location.
