According to online reports, the dog is named Huey and he’s a ‘stocky, sweet-faced Staffordshire Terrier.’ His owner is a single mom with three kids in Utah. Due to a financial need, she had a friend temporarily take care of Huey.

But Huey escaped about 2 weeks ago and was just found a few days ago in Texas. He was picked up as a stray in Collin County, Texas, and taken to a shelter. But the shelter was full, and Huey was set to be euthanized.

While it doesn’t seem like it took much money for Huey to make the massive trek to Texas, getting him back to Utah would cost about $2,000. As mentioned before, his owner (the single mom with financial needs) wouldn’t have been able to cover that cost.

So, the good people of the world banded together and raised the money. Huey was reunited with his family earlier this week.
