Valentine's day is fast approaching and those that decide to go out have a short time to figure out the best date this year. Each couple is into different things, and each couple has a different budget. While most will look to go out to a fancy dinner, Valentine's day doesn't always have to mean expensive food, candlelight dinners, and over-the-top romance. Sometimes it can mean simple things. Just getting out of the house or away from the kids can be enough and sometimes a fun night may be all that your significant other wants and needs. If you need ideas for gifts or sweets there are plenty of options, but after the gifts, what should you do? With Valentine's Day falling on a Monday this year, you have the option of celebrating on the weekend or Monday.

Places to Eat on Valentine's Day in Twin Falls

To get the most obvious out of the way first, going to dinner is always a good option. There are great places to eat in the area and the toughest decision will be picking where to eat. Just like picking a place to eat on an anniversary, you will likely want to pick a fancy place to eat. Elevation, Rock Creek, and Milner's Gate are some of the more common places to go, but there are tons of options. Sometimes sticking with Jaker's, Applebee's, Chili's, and Olive Garden can fulfill you just as well. Make sure to call ahead for reservations for whichever place you choose. Most places will be very busy that night.

If you are looking to save money on food and eat before or after your date, then going bowling might be the way to go. Bowladrome is the perfect place to go for a fun, light-hearted date. It will take you back to your high school or college days and who doesn't have a good time bowling? Get some food, some drinks and have a fun time. You can be goofy or competitive and take your time as there is no pressure since it is just the two of you. If you have friends that want to do a double date, then it is a great way to get out and not have awkward dinner conversations either.

See a Movie This Weekend

This year seems like an obvious choice to go to the movies. "Redeeming Love" is getting a lot of publicity and makes for the perfect romantic movie night. Get some popcorn, some drinks, wrap your arms around your person, and enjoy a romantic movie. There are other choices, but "Jackass Forever" doesn't seem like a Valentine's movie, but "Scream" would be a good one. Horror movies always make for good cuddling movies. Make sure to check the times and movies that are playing so you can make your choice soon.

Skateland is Open This Valentine's Day

If bowling doesn't take you back then skating at Skateland will. I remember the days of hoping the girl I liked would agree to couple skate with me and hold my hand back in the day, and the thought of doing that with my wife 20 years later sounds like a blast from the past. It is affordable, fun, and changes up the normal dinner and movie routine. Hold hands and have that romantic skate. See if you still have the same skating skills you had back in the day.

With Valentine's Day falling on a Monday, many will go out this weekend to celebrate. While chocolate, flowers, and cards are nice, getting something to fix up the home, yard or garden might make both of you happier. The Southern Idaho Home & Garden Show is taking place this weekend at the CSI Expo Center, and what better way to celebrate love than finding ways to make your home a little bit better. It doesn't have to be a true date, but it is worth checking out and stopping the arguments about fixing things around the house. Visit the show and browse and agree together. Nothing tests love like trying to make a big decision as a couple.

For a couple that doesn't have kids or has family or friends to watch their children, take advantage of when Valentine's fell this year and make it an extended date. Get away from town and take a weekend trip to Boise, Salt Lake, Sun Valley, Yellowstone, or someplace else hidden in the mountains. Make sure to check out the Hailey ice and snow sculptures if you head north this weekend. There are some beautiful places to go in Idaho and surrounding states, that it might be best to get away for a few days. If money is a factor, take a day's drive and enjoy time out of town taking in the beautiful surroundings. With everything all white, it is even prettier than normal right now.

Idaho is blessed with a plethora of hot springs and there are plenty to choose from in the Twin Falls area and Magic Valley. Depending on how far you are willing to drive and if you prefer natural hot springs out in the wild or ones closer to home in a spa setting, there are options for everyone. If you prefer to stay close and go for the spa settings, you can relax and enjoy a romantic day together. If you want the natural hot springs, you will have to drive further and hike, but the views from most are worth it. You may end up with a hot spring just for the two of you.

Stay Home and Enjoy a Night In

Sometimes going out is overrated. A nice romantic night in by the fire can be all you need. Make dinner at home, watch a movie at home and enjoy a night in. It saves money, you avoid traffic and you can relax a little more comfortably. The options at home are endless as well. If you want to keep it light-hearted you can have a game night. You can have friends over for a double date night, or keep it between just the two of you. It is up to you how you decide to spend your night in, but it might beat going out altogether.

The option to not celebrate Valentine's Day is always out there. Some people may be single, maybe apart from their significate other, or may just find the holiday not worth celebrating. No matter which way you decide to go, enjoy the day of love the way that fits you and your significant other the best. If you are someone that hates Valentine's Day then spend it like a normal day. Have fun, be safe, and enjoy spending time together this year, but remember, some things that happen on Valentine's Day, may have long-lasting consequences.
