IMPORTANT UPDATE: The Drops are not a place where anyone should go to swim or play in the water. Entering the water of an irrigation facility is trespassing and dangerous. In 2023, two people died in the canal water near or at The Drops.

The Drops are a Magic Valley secret that you will never find unless a local shows you where they are. Surprisingly though, some locals haven't ever heard of them. And if you do mention that the drops are canal water, you'll get a few concerned and disgusted looks.

Where Are The Drops In Shoshone, Idaho

The Drops are in the middle of nowhere to the northwest of Shoshone and you might be tempted to play in the water - but don't. It's dangerous and illegal.

Are The Drops Safe To Visit

We've received backlash from community members in the past when we talk about the Drops. Some people think the location is dangerous and others think it is a fun place to play. The Drops are listed as 'Little Drops Recreation Area' on Google, but that doesn't make it an OK place to play. The Drops can be dangerous and deadly and it's illegal to enter the canal water.

PLEASE NOTE - wildfire dangers are real in the area of the Drops and can happen quickly. If there is a wildfire near the Drops avoid the area. If you want to play in the water on a hot day, we suggest you head further north to Roaring Springs.
