First Day of School in Twin Falls

It wasn’t until a conversation with one of my kids a day ago that we realized how close the first day of school was. For the Twin Falls School District, we only have about 2 weeks left of summer vacation.

When Does School Start in the Magic Valley?

There are a lot of schools around the Magic Valley and a variety of start dates for the 2023-2024 school year. But, by the end of August, everyone will be back in class. These are the start dates for the schools around Twin Falls and the nearby cities, plus links to each school’s calendar:

Twin Falls School District starts August 16th
Xavier Charter School starts August 28th
Lighthouse Christian School starts August 16th
Kimberly School District starts August 22nd
Jerome Schools start on August 17th (some don’t report until the 18th)
Filer School District starts August 21st
Buhl Schools start August 14th (Popplewell starts the 15th)

Twin Falls School Supply Lists

There are school supplies that each student will need to bring to class and there are some items that are recommended but not required. You can find the lists for students in the Twin Falls School District on the TFSD website. Elementary children and Middle School kids should get their supplies before school starts, with the exception of Bridge Academy where supplies are provided. High School supply lists will be shared with students by their teachers on the first day of school, but they should bring paper and a pen or pencil on the first day.

Based on numbers from the Idaho State Department of Education, these school districts had the highest four-year graduation rates for the Class of 2022. It's worth noting that all of these districts have a total student population of less than 900.
